This renovation of an existing two storey home sought to create street appeal, resolve weather-tightness issues with the existing plaster cladding and add floor space and outdoor living areas. Stephen Matthews Architects added a two-story section to the existing house creating an additional upstairs bedroom with private balcony, and a dining room on the ground floor.

The existing master suite balcony was severely water-damaged and was replaced entirely. The entire first floor was re-clad with timber weatherboards over a ventilation cavity, creating a warm dry home with bungalow character. The roof was substantially remodelled to include wide eaves providing protection from the elements, and a new colour scheme has given the building character and longevity.
